I think the NFBKC should consider a schedule change for next year. The last 2 weeks of basketball has gotten ridiculous with the random DNP or random injuries to rest players. The schedule should be shortened just like in football. There is too much of this now in the NBA. Leagues shouldn't be won by picking up Mike Miller and Damien Wilkens etc while Lebron gets some rest.
If you are out of free agent money, you can almost not field a team with all the DNP. Either that or allow $0 bids.
Another change that should be considered is when the lineups are due. I think you should be allowed to replace players that have yet to play up untill game time, whether that is Monday or Tuesday etc. NBA information isn't as available or reliable as football. Last Monday, there were no NBA ganes due to the college championship, yet lineups had to be in on Monday night. Tyson Chandler for one said on Monday he feels great, has a 4 game week. On Tuesday he has a bulging disk and missed all week. But you can't change the lineup even though nobody has played a game yet.
My thoughts to make a better game,

Re: Schedule and line-up change for next year
Roger, we're working on everything for next season right now. I don't think we'll make an aggressive change with the schedule like you propose because every season is different. The Heat were resting players the last couple of weeks because they posted one of the best records in NBA history. I'm not sure we can or should expect that to occur every season. I understand your point but at this time I don't anticipate us changing the schedule. It will likely run through Game 82 as it has every season.
The lineup submission is something we can look at. Greg and I will discuss this and make sure it can be programmed and then make a decision.
We're going to unveil all our plans for next season real soon. That will include a national Draft Champions event that ideally would begin after the NBA Finals. We may possibly add a $5,000 Ultimate League as well and maybe even live events in Las Vegas. Not sure we'll do all of that but we have big plans to keep growing the NFBKC so look for everything to be announced soon.

Re: Schedule and line-up change for next year
Tom,
I respectfully disagree. It was a lot more than just Heat players. The last week of the season these players either did not play or were limited:
ATL Teague, Horford, Smith, Korver, Harris
OKC Durant, Westbrook limited, Ibaka limited, Sefalosha limited (all about 7 minutes)
MIL Ellis, Jennings limited
DEN Lawson limited, McGee limited
NY all starters incl Anthony, JR, Felton, Chandler, Kidd
SA limited minutes for Duncan, Parker, Leonard,
IND George, West, Hibbert
Phil Holiday, Young limited
MIA James, Bosh, Chalmers
BKN limited Williams, Lopez, Johnson, Wallace, Evans
BOS Garnett, Pierce limited
I'm sure there are others, this is just off the top of my head.
Almost universally football leagues do not go 17 weeks. It also is only a couple teams that have clinched everything and rest key players.
I am very much looking forward to all your plans for next year. On to football now.

Re: Schedule and line-up change for next year
I agree Roger that it was more than just the Heat. Off the top of my head I can't recall a season when so many players sat out the last week. So it's possible this was an anomaly and not something we'll see consistently from year to year. We'll see how things play out next season but at this time I don't think we need to make a change with our schedule.
The roster submission time is something we'll look at, though. Greg and I will go over that so give us a little time to figure that one out and we'll announce everything real soon.

We have talked with our IT department about the flexible starting times for your players and we will be installing this suggestion for 2013-14. For players who don't have a game on Monday, you'll have until 5 minutes before his Tuesday start to get him in your starting lineup. This is no different than how we deal with the Monday Night Football Game in our NFFC contest. So definitely look for this change in 2013-14 NFBKC.
Thanks for the suggestion here. It was a good one. We won't be shortening the NFBKC season at this point, however, but we do understand the frustrations of those final weeks in some cases.
