NFBKC Industry Draft Set For Tuesday, Oct. 16th

by Greg Ambrosius
We are going to kick off the NFBKC season next Tuesday, Oct. 16th with an industry draft featuring 12 fantasy basketball writers/editors. The Industry Draft will have the same rules as the NFBKC with 12 teams, 16 rounds and featuring Third Round Reversal. We'll post the draft results afterwards and all of the participants will be able to talk about the draft and post the results on their web pages.

This is one good way to spread the word about the NFBKC and to get industry veterans onto our site. We'll play out the league and acknowledge the champion at season's end. Tom and I are both competing in it and we'll have a nice writeup of the league on these message boards. It should be a lot of fun.

Check out the list of participants below and enjoy the results once we're done:

NFBKC Industry Draft

It looks like Rotoworld.com ran a mock draft among their writers and posted the first 6 rounds on their site. Here's a link to that article if you want to see who went in the early rounds:

Damn, Tom has it easy with that 2nd pick: Durant or LeBron. Easy as can be. But what do I do with that 7th pick? Any suggestions for my first two picks?

These five will be gone, I'm sure:
Durant
LeBron
Love
Westbrook
Paul

That's leaving me with some tough choices. I have an idea which way I'm going, but I'd love to hear some advice. Anyone got anything for me? ;)

I'm a novice at fantasy hoops, but I gave it my best today!! From the 7th hole:

1. Kyrie Irving
2. Dirk Nowitzki
3. Dwight Howard
4. Tony Parker
5. Mike Conley
6. Kevin Garnett
7. Carlos Boozer
8. Gordon Hayward
9. Jason Terry
10. Jordan Crawford
11. Austin Rivers
12. Shawn Marion
13. Al Harrington
14. Trevor Ariza
15. Devin Harris
16. Thomas Robinson

Okay, okay, I know that Dwight Howard is a FT liability, but when I took Nowitzki ahead of him I felt I could live with Dwight. I knew I needed someone like Ray Allen or Jason Terry later and I got one of them. Garnett is old, but Howard and Garnett can fill the C spots. I need more chuckers after taking 3 point guards, but Conley was too good to pass up on in the 5th round. I should have taken him ahead of Parker anyway, so I said the hell with it, I'll take you both!!

I don't know if I have enough rebounds or 3-pointers, but the core isn't too bad. And considering that I didn't know half the players after the 6th round, I'm pleased!! Maybe Thomas Robinson will be my late round sleeper.

And anway, it's tough to draft when the guy in the next office is bitching the whole time about his team!! Tom, how are you feeling about that team from the 2nd spot? Let's hear it.

Here's my team from the 2nd spot. Can't say I'm overly thrilled. It seemed like every round the player(s) I wanted kept going right before my picks, starting with LeBron. I can see assists being a major issue all season.

G-John Wall
G-Manu Ginobli
G-Ray Allen
G-Isaiah Thomas
G-Brandon Rush
G-D.J. Augustin
F-Kevin Durant
F-Nicolas Batum
F-Zach Randolph
F-Marvin Williams
F-Brandon Roy
F-Taj Gibson
F-Brandon Bass
C-Al Horford
C-Andrew Bogut
C-Tiago Splitter

I like it Greg, if you are gonna grab D-Howard, Kyrie+Dirk is a decent start at recovering there. 3 solid PG's, 4 solid Big Guys, good effort from a self proclaimed novice.

The assists are HORRENDOUS especially with Wall out for a month or so. But you got the #1 pick in the draft at #2, even if you weren't happy about it, and seems like you has some nice late picks; but overall not a huge fan of this roster either.
